Douglas County Background Check

What the database shows is set by law. Under Minnesota Statute 13.87, conviction records are public for 15 years following discharge of the sentence. Douglas County District Court Records

Expungement affects what searches can return. Under Minn. Stat. 609A, a court can seal a criminal record. Sealed records are removed from public-facing databases like the BCA and MCRO. A clean search result does not always mean no criminal history. It may mean any records present have been sealed through the expungement process. Law enforcement and some licensing agencies keep access to sealed records after expungement.
